When natural disasters strike, should damaged electrical systems be repaired or replaced?

When electrical systems are impacted from floods, hurricanes, tornadoes, fires, earthquakes, or other natural or man-made disasters, electricians need to make critical decisions about whether or not damaged electrical equipment can be salvaged. Use NFPA’s “Natural Disaster Electrical Equipment Checklist,” which builds off of recommendations in Annex K of the 2023 edition of NFPA 70B, Standard for Electrical Equipment Maintenance.
